Meet our diverse team of top scientists and experts

Dr. Elizabeth C. Nelson
Managing Director

Dr. Elizabeth Nelson is a biomedical engineer and scientist who studies how the spaces we live and work in shape our biology. Blending physiology, neuroscience, and environmental design, she investigates the subtle but powerful ways that architecture, and space design influence stress, focus, and recovery—often without us realizing it. Dr. Nelson works at the intersection of science and design, uncovering how design can unlock human potential and applying it to create healthier, higher-performing places to live and work.

Dr. Hassan Shaikh
Research Fellow

With a Doctorate in Design and over two decades of international experience in global real estate and workplace innovation, Hassan’s research focuses on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in workplace strategy and design. He introduced the Polycontextual Workplace Model (PCW), which moves beyond Activity-Based Working by integrating human context and workplace experience into spatial design. He has led strategic initiatives across sectors including biopharmaceuticals, aviation, retail, and design.

Dr. Heather E. Wray
Head of Research

Dr. Heather Wray is a scientist, working at the intersection of circularity, sustainability and social impact. She holds a PhD in environmental engineering from the University of Toronto. A pioneer in urban agriculture, Heather co-developed The Sky Garden, sparking her ongoing interest in how green spaces and circular design can support both environmental and community wellbeing.

Sophie Schuller
Research Fellow

Sophie Schuller is a built environment researcher specializing in NeuroArchitecture. Her PhD research focuses on how workplaces and the built environment influence human biology and behavior. Her work bridges neurophysiology, embodied cognition, and stress physiology to uncover the profound connections between space, sensory perception, and cognitive performance. With a background in urban strategy and public health, Sophie explores the social value of buildings and cities.
